Stevenson High School athletic facilities will undergo significant improvements inside and out thanks to the UCS bond proposal approved in 2023. A key project has transformed the former weight room into a state-of-the-art fieldhouse, benefiting all SHS students. During the fall 2025 semester, the District made major infrastructure upgrades to the ventilation, lighting and flooring systems, but training equipment was not included in the district's budget.
The Rick Bye Fieldhouse celebrated a ribbon cutting ceremony to open the space on January 13, 2026.
Consistent with its purpose to promote Titan athletics, the Stevenson Athletic Booster Club is supporting the fundraising effort to ensure that the new fieldhouse provides a premium athletic training environment for students and athletes alike. Weight racks, free weights, machines and other necessary training equipment for the space is estimated to cost an additional $200,000.
The Booster Club has contributed $30,000 to date to purchase an initial set of weight racks. In addition, some barbells, hex bars, plates, sleds and training bands were previously purchased and have been made available to students.
The District began infrastructure updates in summer 2025 at which time equipment purchases began. The fieldhouse was completed at the end of 2025 and opened for student use on January 13, 2026.
Additional equipment is necessary to provide a comprehensive training environment for students. Fundraising will continue to support the purchase of additional equipment.
SHS parents, alumni and local businesses are invited to support this effort by joining the Stevenson Athletic Booster Club and donating to the Rick Bye Fieldhouse fundraising campaign.
The fieldhouse is named in honor of former UCS educator and legendary Stevenson Football coach Rick Bye, who led the Titans over 35 years to 268 wins, 42 championships and 4 state finals. Hundreds of Coach Bye's players have gone on to play football in the NCAA and six Titans have played in the NFL. Bye began his career with UCS as an educator in 1970 and taught drafting, physical education and woodshop. He also coached basketball and track and field, and served as an athletic director.
